The jury said: "We see the excellent Gerard Depardieu in a completely different role. Also Alexandra Maria Lara incarnates her role brilliantly, along with other great actors. The directing as well as the leading of the actors are exquisit. Daniela Schmidt-Langels’ portray of one of the most important representatives of German literature today has been awarded the JULIANE BARTEL MEDIEN AWARD. The Jury said: „The film not only shows important moments of her life – it also tells almost casually a piece of East-West German History and gives the audience an understanding of the life situation in those two worlds at the time.” The award which is granted by the Ministry of Social Affairs of Lower Saxony recognizes the creative debate of the filmmaker on how women and their life situation is reflected in the media today.
The French-German adaption of Martin Suter’s homonymous bestselling novel is going to be released theatrically in Germany on December 16, 2010 by Majestic (release in German speaking Switzerland on December 23). MARTIN SUTER about the movie: “SMALL WORLD has deeply touched me – more than the novel actually, of course also because I’ve written the novel myself. I found the movie very elegant, it’s real cinema!” The World Premiere takes place within the Week of French Cinema in Berlin on December 1 in the presence of the director Bruno Chiche and the main cast.
The first broadcast of Felix Moeller’s cinema documentary on German TV (WDR and RBB) on September 23 and 30 was accompanied by large press feedback. On RBB the film achieved an excellent audience rating of 11.4 %. HARLAN will be broadcasted again on November 16 at 11:45 p.m. on NDR.
